Living with Pulmonary Hypertension: 34 Years and Counting
By Jeannette B. Morrill
Forward by Joel A. Wirth, MD
In 1976, I received the following news from my doctor.”You have, maybe, two years to live. The time you have left will be very gloomy.” At that point I started writing a journal as a means to express my inner thoughts that I could not discuss with others. After speaking at Pulmonary Hypertension support groups all over the country, I was encouraged to write my story. This is the account of my journey as I learned to live and cope with a disease that has no cure other than a heart or lung transplant. My goal for this book to give hope to others with PH or any other debilitating disease.
Jeannette Morrill is one of the few long-term survivors of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PH, or PAH). Diagnosed just before her wedding at age 22 when there were virtually no treatment options, she has persevered against this debilitating disease and provided hope and encouragement to patients all over the world. A powerful patient advocate, determined fundraiser and a compelling voice, Jeannette’s record of her own uphill journey fighting against pulmonary arterial hypertension now supports the Uphill Journeys project she founded in 2010. Your purchase of a signed copy of Living with Pulmonary Hypertension: 34 Years and Counting supports not only the Uphill Journeys online physician’s forum, advocacy efforts and blog, but the PH Association’s search for a cure.
